WHAT IS HOME INSURANCE?

Sometimes referred to as home insurance, homeowners or building insurance, Omni Sure will cover you in the event of damage to your property, its structures and features.

The buildings of your private home and all outbuildings on your premises.

Also included are fixtures, fittings, walls (excluding dam walls), gates, gate motors, intercom and security systems, fences (not hedges), swimming pools (but not the water or portable swimming pools), swimming pool filters, safety nets, covers, pumps, sauna baths, spa baths, hot tubs, normally constructed tennis courts (but not clay, gravel or grass surfaced), ornamental ponds and fountains, borehole motors, underground pipes and cables, public supply connections, satellite dishes, aerials, antennae, air conditioning units, irrigation systems, solar heating systems, brick, tar and concrete driveways paths and patios.

DEFINITIONS

Calculating the insured value
The sum insured should represent the rebuilding costs of all buildings and improvements on your property, including driveways, walls, extensions, swimming pools, etc. Items such as air conditioners, fitted carpets and eye-level ovens should also be included. Market value often differs significantly from rebuilding costs and is not the figure on which to base your insurance. 
Important note: In calculating the sum insured, provision should also be made for demolition costs, professional fees and public authority requirements.
Cover includes
Damage caused by fire, lightning, explosion, storm, wind, rain, hail, snow, water or earthquake. Bursting, leaking, overflowing of water and heating installations for pipes or geysers including damage to the heating installations, pipes or geysers. Accidental impact. Theft or attempted theft of fixtures and fittings in or on your building. Malicious damage caused to your building.
Building cover excludes
Damage or destruction to retaining walls unless such property was erected in terms of architectural or engineering specifications.

WHAT IS HOUSEHOLD CONTENTS INSURANCE?

The contents of your home are ALL moveable items in your home. Household contents, otherwise referred to as contents insurance cover, will pay you for the new replacement value of your household contents in the building at the address specified in your schedule.

It includes garden furniture and other outdoor items on your premises that are damaged by an insured event covered by this section of your policy. Included in your contents sum insured is accidental death, medical and veterinary expenses, trauma and veterinary counselling and much more.

Always insure your household contents for new replacement values for the entire moveable contents of your home.

Important note: Remember to include items such as the contents of garages, workshops, tool sheds and domestic staff quarters. It is very important to note the security requirements on your schedule to avoid any problems in the event of a claim.

WHAT IS ALL RISK INSURANCE?

Portable possession insurance refers to All risk insurance and cover applies worldwide and relates to possessions lost or damaged away from your residence.

Clothing and personal belongings that you and your family wear or carry around on you when you leave the house. There is normally a % limit on the total sum insured of this section according to the various insurer’s.
Specified all risk
